A Markovian growth dynamics on rooted binary trees evolving according to the Gompertz curve

چکیده
Telomere are nucleo-proteins located at the end terminal of eukaryotic chromosomes which shorten at each cell division. Recent evidences points to telomere as a cell clock mechanism which limits the total number of cell divisions (Hayflick limit) and decelerates cellular proliferation. In a recent work, simulations of a discrete time stochastic telomere regulated model for cell division produced growth curves similar to those observed in mesenchymal human stem cells and quantitatively very similar to Gompertzian Growth. In this work we considered the continuous time version of the stochastic telomere regulated model for cultured cell division. Instead of simulations, we obtained the analytic expression for the expected mean cell population. The growth curve obtained is still very close to a Gompertzian growth, within the limit of 2% of the final size. Moreover, Gompertzian growth is retrieved as a limit case. We also evaluate the mean telomere length, which can be checked against cell culture data. Gompertzian growth is observed in tumors, animals and tissue regeneration but its biological foundations are still unclear. This work adds a possible intrinsic control mechanism for this growth model. keywords: telomere, growth, stem cells, model, stochastic, Gompertz. Evaluation of Models to Describe Temporal Growth in Local Chickens of Ghana
The logistic, Gompertz, Richards and asymmetric logistic growth curve models were fitted to body weight data of local Ghanaian chickens and French SASSO T44 chickens. All four growth models provided good fit for each sex by genotype growth data with R2 values ranging from 86.7% to 96.7%. The rate constant parameter, k, ranged between 0.137 and 0.271 and were significantly different from zero fo...
متن کاملFitting Markovian binary trees using global and individual demographic data
We consider a class of branching processes called Markovian binary trees, in which the individuals lifetime and reproduction epochs are modeled using a transient Markovian arrival process (TMAP). We estimate the parameters of the TMAP based on population data containing information on age-specific fertility and mortality rates. Depending on the degree of detail of the available data, a weighted...
متن کاملA Discrete Gompertz Equation and a Software Reliability Growth Model
I describe a software reliability growth model that yields accurate parameter estimates even with a small amount of input data. The model is based on a proposed discrete analog of a Gompertz equation that has an exact solution. The difference equation tends to a differential equation on which the Gompertz curve model is defined, when the time interval tends to zero. The exact solution also tend...

It is possible to represent each of a number of Markov chains as an evolving sequence of connected subsets of a directed acyclic graph that grow in the following way: initially, all vertices of the graph are unoccupied, particles are fed in one-byone at a distinguished source vertex, successive particles proceed along directed edges according to an appropriate stochastic mechanism, and each par...
متن کاملEvidence for the Gompertz Curve in the Income Distribution of Brazil 1978 – 2005
Abstract. This work presents an empirical study of the evolution of the personal income distribution in Brazil. Yearly samples available from 1978 to 2005 were studied and evidence was found that the complementary cumulative distribution of personal income for 99% of the economically less favorable population is well represented by a Gompertz curve of the form G (x) = exp [ exp (A − Bx)], where...
